Delayed Flight? We're Here to Help

Find out what support is available

Take a deep breath. Flight delays happen, and you have rights.

Helpful tip: While delays can be frustrating, staying calm and polite with airline staff will help you get the assistance you need faster. The staff is there to help you!

Also check your airline's app and email for updates

What you're entitled to

These apply no matter what caused the delay

After 2 hours
  • For delays of 2+ hours, airlines must provide food and drinks appropriate to the waiting time.
  • You're entitled to make calls or send emails at the airline's expense.
Overnight Delay
  • For overnight delays, airlines must provide and arrange your hotel stay.
  • Free transport between the airport and hotel must be provided

Important: Keep all receipts for expenses - you may claim these back from the airline

Financial compensation

For delays 3+ hours at arrival, if the airline was responsible

€250
up to 1,500 km
€400
1,500-3,500 km
€600
over 3,500 km

You may get compensation if:

  • The delay was caused by the airline (technical issues, crew problems, etc.)
  • Your flight departed from an EU airport

Weather delays

You still get all the care rights above, but financial compensation typically doesn't apply for weather.

Not sure if you qualify for compensation? Companies like AirHelp can check your eligibility for free and handle the entire claim process if you do.

If you want to document things

These can help if you later file a claim, but don't stress if you can't

  • Take photos of information displays showing the delay
  • Keep receipts if you buy meals, transport, or hotel yourself
  • Save your boarding pass and any emails from the airline
